Grumpy or what!
I want to be upbeat. I want to feel okay. But. I'm feeling down and out today and very grumpy.
I had a run in with a neighbour yesterday. We were chatting over the wall at the front and started talking about the vaccine. She proceeded to tell me she doesn't intend to get vaccinated. Have you had flu I asked, yes I have but it wasn't that bad she said, you haven't had flu you had a bad cold I said! Well, she said, you don't know what they are putting into your body with these vaccines. I said, well, whatever it is, it is tested to the nth degree whatever you might read and believe on social media, however I suppose you won't be wanting any chemo if you get cancer then, good luck with that and I swiftly walked away! It got my knickers in a right twist. I think she got the residual anger from my brother in law telling me his wife doesn't intend to get the vaccine either - and she's a bl^^dy care worker! Personally I think she shouldn't be allowed to work in the care sector if she refuses it. I think there should be consequenses for people who refuse the vaccine. There is more than themselves to think about.
I just want to say here, if you intend to comment on here that you too will refuse the vaccine, I am not the least bit interested in your justification for it or in an arguement with you. You are indeed entitled to your own opinion but if you don't want this, then I personally feel you are not the type of person I want commenting on here anyway. If that doesn't tell you the mood I'm in nothing will!
And don't start me on the rumour that tRUMP intends to visit Turnberry during the innauguration. Nicola says he can't, no-one is allowed here unless its absolutely necessary and even he can't pretend golf is necessary!
I'll be back again soon when I'm hopefully in a better frame of mind! x
I am totally with you regarding the anti vaxxers.....when did they get their science degree? ..and as you said to her, would they refuse invasive cancer treatment if it became necessary?
ReplyDeleteIt also annoys me when people call a bad cold flu. If you have flu you can barely get out of bed where you are lying sweating and in pain ,to get to the the loo.
As for The Rump....I just heard that on the radio. The man is a total lunatic. Surely golf clubs are closed anyway? You have got me going now.....hope we feel better soon!!
I'm feeling a lot better today thankfully! I clearly just needed a good rant! I'm not sure if golf clubs are completely closed here, I think in tier 4 they were allowed to open for timed tee offs and not allowed inside the clubhouse, however we're now in complete lockdown so that might have changed. Everything here is frozen solid at the moment anyway, today's temps are not getting above freezing so I doubt he'd want to come here just now anyway!
DeleteMy email won't have helped then!
ReplyDeleteOn the contrary Scarlet, it was lovely to get your chatty email. Not being able to get a vaccine is a very different thing from choosing not to have one. I hope the new Oxford vaccine will suit your husband better and he'll be able to get it soon. I'm not sure what the difference is between them other than the temperature they've to be stored at. As my neighbour rightly said, we've no idea what they are putting into us, but I do know that throughout history vaccines have saved a lot of people. x
DeleteI work in a building attached to the hospital. I want to sign up and get the vaccine, but I am not really allowed to as I am not hospital staff. I would get it in a heartbeat! But I would feel bad if it took away from someone who deserved it and needed it. I can wait. I wish folks understood it more, they don't want to get out of this it seems.
ReplyDeleteI think, to be honest, people who still have to work outwith their home should be higher up on the list to receive it. My daughter works in a supermarket and she comes into contact with people all the time and although she's only 40, I think she should get the vaccine before those of us who are able to remain at home. People don't seem to understand that it is vaccines that have wiped out or at least lessened our risk of things like Polio, Smallpox, Measles, TB, all things that were around when I was a child. Thinking of one of my previous posts, mumps was a very common childhood illness and so many people said to me when my son's partner got it, 'hasn't that been irradicated, I've not heard of it for years' Why? Because sensible parents got their children vaccinated. I hope you get the chance to have it soon. x
DeleteEven your daughter should get it before me, I interact with way less people than she does! I was floored when you said your son's partner had mumps. I cannot believe all of a sudden, folks want to believe that science is made up... I understand the concern that this vaccine came about so quickly, but maybe folks should wonder why other vaccines cannot be created as quickly?! I hope they continue to roll out the vaccines and really get ahead of it - so much government incompetence.
DeleteYou mean golf isn't "essential". I sure hope Nicola has the balls to tell Trump to keep on truckin' if he tries to land in Scotland. As for the vaccine, I will take it if/when offered (although in one of my posts I did say I would have a hard time if they tried to introduce mandatory vaccination. Just my thoughts). I've never been an anti-vaxxer anyway but I do believe I should be way down the list as there are more urgent cases than me!
